The Coffs Coast Drupallers are a group of Drupal users and developers who meet every so often and have a jolly time.

We'll have a recap of everything we learned from DrupalDownunder. (Brisbane in summer! Oh the humidity!) Also a new(ish) member of the local Drupal community will be along to introduce himself, and there are some exciting potential developments in the Coffs IT ecosystem that I'll enigmatically refrain from elaborating upon just now, but I daresay will get a mention on Wednesday. Drupal 7 is out! Debian 6 is out! How much more exciting can 2011 get?

Same deal as usual; come along and we'll chat about whatever you like. I've been playing around a bit with Git and liking it a lot. I've also dipped my toes in the waters of SimpleTest and still consider it a misnomer. I'd be really interested in hearing from any brave souls who've started developing with Drupal 7. Also I'll be driving up to DrupalDownunder in January, so if anybody between the mid north coast and Brisbane wants to car pool, let me know.

Got a question this week about the setting up a business directory site in Drupal. As it happens we've been doing a lot of that kind of project at Alma Technology lately, so we're quite well placed to demonstrate some of the options available in this area.
Of course the agenda is as always open to modification, so even if this doesn't interest you, come along with your own questions, etc. and I'm sure we'll fit them in.

As it's our first *ahem* monthly meeting since January and still I don't have anything in particular to discuss (as in January, Drupal 7 is just around the corner!), it's going to be another good old how-and-why session. Expecting a (relative) Drupal newbie at this meeting, so we'll probably be spending a bit of time going over the basics of running a Drupal site. A good opportunity to come along if you've been considering attending, but afraid of being dropped in the deep end of the Drupal pool.
For those who like the full-on nerdiness, I'm sure there will be some of that as well. And if neither appeals, based on past experience I'm pretty confident we'll be completely off-topic for much of the time, so if you just want a friendly chat with folk who work in web development (and be honest - who doesn't?) please come along.

After what I think I can call the success of our last meetup, I've set the date of this next one to only three weeks after, and we'll see how we go. As usual, the agenda is wide open, so come prepared to talk about anything you please. If possible try to make it Drupal or at least web development related.

If you're a member of the GDO Australia group, you'll have seen this nice Computerworld Australia piece on Drupal. Includes some really good stuff on the differences between Drupal and those other systems-that-aren't-really-comparable-but-people-insist-on-making-the-comparison-anyway.

It's the (not so) usual plan: an hour or two of chat about and demonstrations of cool things to do with Drupal in the lavishly-appointed Alma Technology office, then for those who are so inclined, adjournment to one of the quieter corners of the Sawtell Hotel to plot world domination.

Regardless of whether we've entirely finished overindulging in food and drink, it is only right and proper to get back into some sort of sensible post-festive routine, so I've pulled this date out of thin air. If you can't make it on the 15th, you've got first dibs at nominating a date/time/venue for the next one. The only restrictions are that it should be from two to four weeks from the last, and if you have an alternative venue in mind, you should be prepared to guarantee you'll turn up.

Same format as last time, an hour or so of technical talk and demos at the Alma Technology office, followed by a relaxed hour or so of big-picture chat and socialising at the Sawtell Hotel.
Next Coffs Drupal Meetup: When and Where?
Thanks to everybody who attended the last meetup. It was better attended than I expected. It's surprising how little you can do in an hour or two, so I'm already looking forward to the next one.
The place, date and time for the next one is totally open for discussion, so please feel free to make your suggestions in the comments below. To get the ball rolling, I'll suggest 5:30pm Tuesday, 2nd December at our office again.
First Meetup: 5:30pm Wednesday 12th November 2008
The inaugural Coffs Coast Drupallers meetup will take place at the palatial executive offices of Alma Technology (81 First Ave, Sawtell) at 5:30pm on Wednesday 12th November 2008. Anybody interested in developing websites with Drupal is welcome.
At this stage it's expected that meetups will be convened on an ad-hoc basis at varying times, days of the week, and venues, so that it should be possible for anyone regardless of prior commitments to attend every now and then.
